The founder members initially formed the BLHA committee in lockdown of 2020. The BLHA was formed officially as a non-profit equestrian association in January 2021 and the Sports Development Team was subsequently formed to develop the competition structure in February 2021. Following the rapid growth of the BLHA, in April 2021 a sub-committee of volunteers was formed from its members to help with the day to day running, promotion and future growth of the association. The BLHA membership base continues to grow rapidly and as such the BLHA is evolving all the time to meet the needs of those members and to promote the many benefits that Liberty Training offers horses and their humans.

Mia is an outstanding Horsewoman and coach who has dedicated her life to learning everything there is about horse behaviour and psychology, to get the best from our equine partners. Mia has an avid interest in classical dressage and working equitation. Her principles are centred on training horses to have strength, balance, gymnasticity, athleticism, agility and longevity. In partnership with a focus on rider biomechanics and the impact we have on our horses performance. Mia spends her time training and caring for her own team of performance horses.
Mia is committed to inspiring and educating the next generation of horsemen and women, ensuring the knowledge she’s gained is shared and passed down which is why she is the Club’s Chief Coach. Mia is an amazing source of inspiration to all.
Lucinda has been involved with horses all her life with a strong passion for eventing. Lucinda is a mother to two pony mad boys. Therefore her focus is very much on the next generation of horsemen and women. Lucinda has a fairly traditional equestrian background. However, she has been on the ‘Good Horsemanship’ path for over 10 years, gaining a well established knowledge and understanding of how Liberty training enhances and strengthens the relationship and bond that you have with your horse.
"The more our attitude focuses on partnership rather than dictatorship, the more we strive to find ideas that help the horse and engage their mind, the more the horse teaches us and the more fascinating the journey becomes".
As a BHS Accredited Professional Coach with a solid foundation in good Horsemanship and a thorough understanding of many different training methods, Lucinda is ideally placed for those looking to get started on their Liberty journey.
As a Horsemanship Coach, Rachael has spent time learning from a number of horsemen and women over the years and has studied Applied Equine Behaviour. Rachael’s aim is to teach you the CoRE skills to achieve a fun and successful partnership with your horse to enable you to fulfil your goals using Natural Horsemanship training methods and horse psychology. Rachael also facilitates for The HorseCourse, at Centred Horseplay, in Gloucestershire. This incorporates groundwork and liberty training to provide equine powered interventions for people who are referred with mental, emotional and cognitive difficulties.
Liberty training is among one of Rachael’s favourite things to do with her own horses, she is passionate about teaching others.
"As humans, liberty training gives us the opportunity to better understand how our emotions and energy affect our horses; they can offer instant feedback without being influenced too much by our tools. It also allows our horses to experiment with their movement and self-carriage which can help us to translate that movement into the saddle” Rachael Eden

BLHA Sports Development Team.
Horses are my dream and my passion, I love learning about them and all their individual ways and possibilities, no horse I have ever met is the same, in this journey of guiding horses and humans, it is imperative for us to understand a horse's nature and then have the ability, through the skills we have developed to ask them questions, that we set up in the best way for their individual nature.
My personal passion is Liberty, I just love it! along with everything that comes into developing a Liberty horse.
My speciality is foundation horsemanship, ground skills, pre saddle training, preparation to Liberty, young horse pre saddle training, problem solving and preparation for riding.
I of course love riding too, but if I had to choose, it would be Liberty all the way!
I have ridden since I was a young child, I went on to study with Parelli and spent time as a 2* instructor, teaching in the field and on faculty. Since then I have been continuing my horsemanship education, with some brilliant mentors in the UK and Internationally, which has lead me to combine my experience and education to date, I love supporting people's horsemanship journeys and helping them to progress in all areas.
We are looking for professionals who have a solid foundation in good ethical Horsemanship & Liberty Training, who can support BLHA members throughout the UK to progress their horsemanship and achieve their training and competition goals.
